NetCo documents the Nuremberg–Regensburg line overhaul
Blankenburg, March 2026 – The complete closure of the Nuremberg–Regensburg railway line on 6 February 2026 marked the start of one of Germany’s most significant railway infrastructure projects. DB InfraGO is carrying out a fundamental refurbishment of this key transport corridor: new tracks, modernised technology, refurbished stations. NetCo Professional Services GmbH – known in the field of digital construction site documentation under the brand BauTV+ – is equipping the major project with a total of 12 construction site cameras, thereby making the progress of the refurbishment transparent and visible in real time for all stakeholders.
AI instead of clipboards: How digitalisation is transforming the construction site
The construction industry is at a turning point. Whilst other industries have long been working digitally, the construction sector has often lagged behind – but a significant shift is now on the horizon. Technologies such as AI and digital construction site documentation are fundamentally changing work processes. Digital tools are replacing time-consuming inspection trips to the site, and construction logs are no longer kept manually but generated automatically from camera footage and weather data. The Nuremberg–Regensburg major refurbishment is a concrete example of what this transformation looks like in practice for critical infrastructure.
Seamless documentation along the entire route
Within a few days, NetCo’s technical team installed the cameras at strategically selected key points along the route. All 12 systems are now fully operational and provide live images around the clock via the BauTV+ web portal. Clients, project managers, engineers and investors can thus track construction progress from anywhere via their desktop, tablet or smartphone – without having to be on site. The BauTV+ web portal automatically saves an image every 15 minutes, creates time-lapse sequences of construction progress and logs weather data as well as daily construction reports.

GDPR compliance as standard
Data protection is a key issue, particularly for a high-profile infrastructure project of this scale. NetCo’s camera systems deliver GDPR-compliant live images with automatic, standardised pixelation of people and dynamic pixelation of sensitive objects. The intelligent technology identifies relevant areas in real time and automatically adapts the pixelation to changes. Data is stored exclusively on German servers.
Digitalisation meets infrastructure
“Major projects such as this comprehensive refurbishment require transparency – towards clients, the public and all project stakeholders. We deliver this transparency in real time,” explains Thomas Graßmann, Head of BauTV+ at NetCo. “With 12 cameras along the entire route, a complete digital view of the construction work is created – from the first closure to the reopening.”
The potential is enormous: more efficient processes, fewer errors, better communication and greater transparency. NetCo makes getting started easy – with flexible models, robust technology, German data security and personal support. The company has completed over 10,000 projects across Germany and has been in the market since 1997.
