One construction site. 597 days. Everything documented.

This is our test project in Eisenberg: every image, every question, every answer and every number comes unchanged from the BauTV+ portal.

  • ONE SITE
  • ONE CAMERA
  • 597 DAYS
  • EVERYTHING FROM THE PORTAL

Eisenberg in Thuringia, Jenaer Straße: on the site of a decommissioned heating plant, the Saale-Holzland district is building its new public service centre. Five storeys, around 9,100 m² in timber-hybrid construction, soon the central point of contact for the district's citizens and the workplace of around 230 employees of the district administration.

The main contractor is Züblin. For the team on site that means: first the demolition of the old heating plant including its chimney, then a new build with many trades and a public project watched by the district council, the press and the public. Every construction phase has to be traceable later.

On 08.11.2024, camera 1 goes live. From now on, an image is taken every 15 minutes, day and night, for 597 days. What comes of it, you can read here: chapter by chapter, just as the camera saw it.

  • 5 STOREYS
  • APPROX. 9,100 m²
  • TIMBER HYBRID
  • 230 WORKPLACES

YOU ASK, CHATBOB ANSWERS. THE AI ASSISTANT IN THE BAUTV+ PORTAL:

When did the demolition start? Show me an image of it.

Thinking…

The demolition started on 15.11.2024. I'm setting the archive to this date so you can see the image.

This construction project starts with a demolition: before anything new can be built, the old heating plant has to go. The camera watched from day one, the AI counted along: 70,439 excavator detections over the project period. Below it runs, the demolition: camera 1, uncut.

THE CLIENT WOULD LIKE IMAGES OF THE CEREMONY. BEFORE: SEARCHING THE ARCHIVE. TODAY:

Show me an image of the foundation stone ceremony

Reading site log…

I'm opening the image archive and setting the date to 25.06.2025 (entry: foundation stone ceremony).

One sentence in the chat, and the archive jumps to the right day. The people on the floor slab: the foundation stone ceremony, just as camera 1 captured it.

THE SCAFFOLDING CHANGE ORDER IS ON THE TABLE. HOW LONG DID IT REALLY STAND?

From when to when was the building fully scaffolded?

Thinking…

According to the site diary entries, the building was fully scaffolded from 07.10.2025; the scaffolding remained in place until at least 07.06.2026.

Eight months in place, documented to the day. You walk into a change-order negotiation differently with that.

Nobody searched for a photo. The question was enough.

IMAGE ARCHIVE · 07.10.2025 · 12:00
BauTV+ image archive on 07.10.2025: fully scaffolded shell, ChatBob dialogue open
Visible on the side: ChatBob, the AI assistant in the portal, takes you straight to the right place on request. "Where do I find the time-lapses?" → "Shall I take you there?"

How many days was the crane on the construction site?

Did you mean the tower crane, the mobile crane or all cranes together?

It's about the billing — we have a misunderstanding about the actual number of days. Let's start with the main tower crane.

Thinking…

According to the site diary: "equipment_arrived" on 10.06.2025, "equipment_removed" on 02.02.2026 — including both days that is 238 days (237 if 02.02 was already the first day without the crane). Note: this information is based on automatic image analysis and may contain errors.

Crane days are real money. When the invoice doesn't match your own memory, the searching usually begins: old emails, delivery notes, who was on site when? Here, arrival and removal are in the site diary to the exact day, and ChatBob calculates both readings right away.

ANOTHER QUESTION THAT OTHERWISE COSTS DISCUSSIONS:

Are there images from the day the reinforcement was approved?

Thinking…

Reinforcement mats appear in the site diary on 02.07, 03.07, 06.07 and 09.07.2025. There is no clear approval entry — shall I take you to the site diary for 09.07.2025 so you can check the images there?

No clear entry? Then ChatBob says exactly that and offers the jump to the images. Nothing gets invented here.

TWO WEEKS AWAY FROM SITE? ONE SENTENCE IS ENOUGH:

Give me a summary of what happened in May

Thinking…

May 2026 showed consistently high presence: excavators almost daily, plus trucks regularly and at times many cars in frame. Particularly active were 21, 27 and 28.05 — excavators appeared on up to 57 images per day, with up to 8 at once.

The answer arrives in seconds, with data and peak days. And because the camera also captures every ordinary Tuesday, the AI counts along across the whole project:

  • 0CARS
  • 0VANS

QUESTIONS FROM EVERYDAY SITE WORK, ANSWERS STRAIGHT FROM THE PORTAL

Ask anything.
The site answers.

  • BUILD TIME

How long did the shell construction take?

From 24.07.2025 to 23.01.2026, 168 days in total.

  • TRADES

In which week was the roof covered?

The roof waterproofing was documented as complete on 08.04.2026: calendar week 15.

  • HEAT

When was work done at over 30 degrees?

Twelve days above 30 °C and detections on camera 1, from 14.06.2025 to 28.06.2026. Plus the offer: "Shall I take you to the dashboard so you can see the image evidence?"

  • FROST

How many frost days were there on site?

90 frost days (minimum temperature ≤ 0 °C) in the available weather data, counted day by day.

  • BAD WEATHER

Were there working days despite snow?

Yes, e.g. on 12.01.2026: 4.1 cm of snow and still plenty of machine and people images. Snow depth and activity sit side by side for every day.

  • LOGISTICS

When were the most vehicles on the site at the same time?

On 16.12.2025: a maximum of 50 vehicles in one image.

  • KEY DATE

Show me the status on the first Monday of February.

02.02.2026, CW 6: phase "External walls and facade", continuous snow cover, fully scaffolded, glazing installed. And on "show me the image" ChatBob opens the image viewer. On the right, the result: 6:00 a.m. in the snow.

Portal screenshot: ChatBob opens the image from 02.02.2026, 6:00 a.m., snow-covered site at night

FRIDAY AFTERNOON, MANAGEMENT ASKS FOR THE STATUS:

What phase is the construction site currently in?

Thinking…

The construction site is currently in the phase "Facade and masonry" (as of 31.05.2026). Note: this information is based on automatic image analysis and may contain errors.

THAT NOTE AT THE END IS ALWAYS THERE

ChatBob marks every AI answer as automatic image analysis. Before a number goes into a change order or a report, check the image behind it. ChatBob provides the jump straight to it.

CHAPTER 07 · THE FINALE

597 days.
90 seconds.

At the end of every project stands the film. The time-lapse is the reason many customers start. The complete documentation is the reason they stay. And this is not just any time-lapse: it is the film of this exact project, from the old heating plant chimney to the finished facade.

597 days after the first image, a five-storey timber-hybrid building stands on Jenaer Straße, soon home to around 230 employees of the district administration. The site of the old heating plant has become the district's new public service centre. And every step of the way is documented.
